Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has lifted the lid on what Jose Mourinho told his players in the aftermath of that infamous 5-0 defeat to Barcelona during his first season in charge.
Dudek reveals all in his new book, 'Under pressure'.
The former Liverpool No1 says it was "chaos in the locker room. Some players were crying, others were arguing, some looked to the ground. Mourinho then entered the locker room. He knew what had happened was awful for the team.
"We looked at him and he said, 'I know this hurts you. Perhaps for most of you it is the worst loss of your entire career. They are happy now and seem to have won the championship, but have only won one game. This is just the beginning. There is still a long way to get the title."
"'Tomorrow I will give you the day off, but do not stay in your houses. Go with your families, children or friends for a walk around the city. Let people see that you can overcome this. Perhaps people talk about the significance of this defeat, but do not hide behind it. You must show your manhood. After this defeat, we must fight for the title.'"
Wow! This guy is truly special. His words as gone beyond the game it is what me and you should apply when ever we face or encounter defeat in our day to day life. Those words are inspirational to me; it lifted something up in me and i hope it does to you too. No wonder Real Madrid was crowned champions in the 2011/2012 season; and i look forward to them winning the Champions League soon. He has as well said "Any club in the world would finish behind Barcelona and Real Madrid in La Liga." Do you Agree???
